Methodology
What We Measure
We compare how different assets have performed over time on a common basis — rebased to the same starting point so you can see who actually won, regardless of price.
Data Sources
Public markets and crypto use historical financial pricing data. Luxury goods — bags, watches, whisky, and wine — draw from retail price histories, resale platforms, auction records, and secondary market indices depending on what's available for each asset.
How Returns Are Calculated
All series are rebased to the selected timeframe's starting value. Returns shown are price-only — they don't include dividends, storage costs, transaction fees, or taxes.
Interpolated Series
Some luxury asset data is only available annually. Where this is the case, monthly values are linearly interpolated to create a smoother timeline. Interpolation does not mean monthly transaction evidence exists — it's a modelling choice to aid comparison.
Limitations
Not all assets are equally liquid. Resale estimates for luxury goods can vary significantly by condition, color, model, and region. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
